Big houses, high windows, long hallways
Hove is known for its large Victorian and Edwardian villas, many of them split into flats, along with the Regency squares of Brunswick and Adelaide. These are generous buildings. Tall windows, deep skirting boards, ornate plasterwork and wide staircases mean a clean in Hove takes a certain kind of patience. Dust sits on picture rails and the tops of door frames for months, and a quick wipe does not get it.
We allow for that. When we quote a Hove property we ask about the number of floors, the height of the ceilings and the amount of woodwork, because those decide the hours far more than the number of bedrooms.
Seafront flats and salt on the glass
The seafront is a different job again. Flats along Kingsway, Western Lawns and the streets running up from them get salt air on every window, balcony door and rail. It leaves a film that comes back within days and shows badly in low winter sun. We use vinegar-based glass cleaning, which cuts through that film without leaving residue.
Many seafront flats are also holiday lets. If you host, our Airbnb changeovers at £23 an hour include fresh linen, restocked essentials and a full clean, so the sea view is the only thing guests have to focus on.
Family houses around Hove Park and Cliftonville
Away from the seafront, Hove is full of family homes: the tree-lined roads around Hove Park, the Victorian terraces of Cliftonville and the streets behind Church Road. Families mean muddy boots, sticky handprints and kitchens that get a lot of use, so a weekly clean at £20 an hour is the most popular way to keep on top of it.
Your cleaner will be the same person each visit. They learn where things live, what you do not want touched and which room needs the most attention, and you do not have to explain it all again each time.
Eco products for a household that cares about them
If you care what goes on your surfaces, our products are made from vinegar, lemon and bicarbonate of soda, and they are included in the hourly rate. Nothing harsh is left behind on the worktops where children eat or the floors where pets lie.
If you want a one-off reset before a party, a renovation finish or a seasonal clear-out, a deep clean at £30 an hour covers the details: grout, skirting boards, light fittings and the inside of the fridge, microwave and dishwasher.
